I have been struggling for a long time now with my histamine intolerance. Many people don't know what this allergy is about, but those who also experience it, know how hard it is to eat histamine free. For those of you haven't heard of it before, I am shortly going to explain what it is about :)
For a few years now, I have been suffering from intestinal problems and a lot of bloating. I went to a lot of doctors, specialists, alternative healing methods but no one could really find a cause and therefore no solution to my miserable feeling. I kept on my journey and finally found someone that diagnosed it as a histamine intolerance. Histamine is contained in every each of us in a small amount naturally circulating through the body. Histamine is contained in almost every food, like avocado, strawberries, all kind of legumes, nuts and the list goes on and on. Histamine has several functions such as boosting the immune system when the body has an infection by producing high amounts of histamine, it can also act as a neurotransmitter. Histamine also plays an important role in allergies, which is the reason why we take antihistamines in that cases. The enzyme diaminoxidase is the only enzyme able to break down histamine in the body. Some people, like myself, don't produce enough of this enzyme and therefore the histamine builds up in the body to a limit where it produces different symptoms. Enough theory :D
I wanted to share this with you because I found my solution as for know. I always loved coriander and since a few weeks my body was craving coriander at any time of the day with every meal. I researched a bit about this wonder herb and found out that it actually has anti-inflammatory and therefore anti allergic effects on the body. Including coriander in my meals has made life so much easier for me, it is unbelievable. My intuition was leading me right! Always listen to your body, it will tell you what it needs!
Besides that, coriander has many other benefits, which it is worth it to read about. It is really healing and detoxifying as well! For those of you that don't like coriander, you can also buy it in form of pills. However, make sure that the pills are only made of coriander and no additives and/or fillers. Who knows, maybe it becomes also one of your personal healing methods :) Let me know what you think and if you experiences something similar with any kind of food, herb, pill, etc.
